Tuna Pasta Bake

Underdo the pasta slightly; it finishes in the sauce in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 oz)Canned tuna
  • 12 oz shortPasta
  • 2 cupsMilk
  • 3 tbspButter
  • 3 tbspFlour
  • 1 1/2 cupsCheddar
  • 1 cupFrozen peas
  • 1/2 cupBreadcrumbs (optional)
  • to tasteSalt

Method

  1. Heat oven to 400°F (200°C) and cook pasta 2 minutes short of the packet time.

  2. Melt butter, whisk in flour for 1 minute, then whisk in milk and simmer until thick; stir in most of the cheese.

  3. Fold in pasta, drained tuna and peas; tip into a baking dish.

  4. Top with remaining cheese and breadcrumbs; bake 15 minutes until bubbling.
